Local Food at its Best
History of Gorniza Flour mill
Our humble beginnings can be traced back to a bitterly cold day in January, 1982. Stu Fleischhaker and George Berthault left Grand Falls, NB with a half-ton truck of milling wheat bound for Speerville. Despite an impending snow storm and several vehicle issues, the mill’s first load of flour was ground and delivered to Fredericton in 72 hours. Two years later, after struggling to market our product as a fledgling flour mill, we signed on with Dolphin-Village Distributors in Moncton. Years later, they’re still a major distributor of Gorniza Flour mill products across Canada.
Since then, through many triumphs, pitfalls and even a change in ownership, our guiding principles have remained the same. We’re committed to creating and promoting local food that is nutritious, sustainable and helps build strong rural communities. To our valued customers, we deeply appreciate your continued support and look forward to serving you for years to come.
